1. Identifying the planets that are found in our solar system and comparing how long they take to orbit the sun

Bloom's Taxonomy
Bloom's Taxonomy (Bloom et al., 1994) is one of the most commonly used way to organise students educational objectives. It uses a multi-tier scale to demonstrate the level of understanding required to reach each measureable outcome. Measuring student outcomes in this way allows teachers to select appropriate classroom assessment techniques. There are 3 taxonomies in total with their own set of goals that student outcomes are connected to; knowledge-based goals, skills-based goals, and affective goals. This site will focus on the knowledge-based goal of understanding that our Earth is part of a solar system which contains a number of planets orbiting the same sun. The following table shows how the levels of expertise are arranged in order of increasing complexity and teachers must remember that students outcomes that require higher levels of expertise also require more complex assessment tasks.
